Liam has 2 older sisters named Ruth and Nicola, and his parents names are Karen and Geoff. Liam was raised in Wolverhampton and eventually attended the City of Wolverhampton College studying music technology.

Liam Payne originally auditioned for the Series 5 of the X Factor in 2008 when he was only 14 singing Fly Me To The Moon. Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole were impressed with Liam, but Simon was originally unsure, saying there was “something not quite right, there’s 20 per cent missing”.

Liam’s reply of “Well, give me another audition and I’ll show you that 20 percent” certainly made the judges smile, and Liam receives three yes’s. Liam made it through to the judges houses after singing “A Million Love Songs” but was rejected by Simon Cowell, who advised him to come back in two years time.

2 years later in 2010 Liam returned for the Series 7 series of the X Factor, singing Cry Me A River at the audition stage. Liam successfully made it through to Boot Camp where he sang “Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

It seemed like deja vu for Liam when he was rejected again, but was thrown a lifeline Simon who invited Liam to join One Direction with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik.

Liam has only one functioning kidney. He was diagnosed with a scarred and dysfunctional kidney when he was very young needing numerous painkilling injections. Liam became a very sporty child at school with taking part in cross country runs and taking up boxing.

Liam says his main musical influences are Justin Timberlake and Gary Barlow. Liam normally shares the lead vocal duties in One Direction with bandmate Harry Styles. Liam is very careful how One Direction will develop, as he has said that bands normally have years to practice before they become famous. In One Direction’s case they will be making any errors in the full glare of the media.

Since becoming a member of One Direction, Liam’s lovelife has came under some scrutiny from the media. Liam was in a relationship with Danielle Peazer, a dancer, since meeting on the X factor in 2010 but has reportedly split. Liam has been reported in the madia as having been on dates with Leona Lewis.
