Harry auditioned during series 7 of the X Factor in 2010. He received positive feedback from Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell when Harry sang one of my favourite Stevie Wonder

True to form to his ability to completely miss musical talent, Louis Walsh had doubts about whether Harry would progress in the competition. When it came to the Judges votes, Louis gave Harry a “No” vote, so Simon encouraged the crowd to boo Louis. So when the crowd booed, so did Harry!
With 2 yes votes from Nicole and Simon, Harry went through to Boot Camp. Harry was initially rejected from the series 7 of the X Factor at the Boot Camp stage after singing “Stop Crying your Heart Out” but was called back to join One Direction with Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.
Harry is credited with coming up with the name “One Direction”, supposedly coined as it would sound good when the X Factor announcer said the groups name it during the show.
Harry supports Manchester United, and is a big fan of John Meyer. When Harry was a young child he used to sing songs by Elvis Presley. Harry also cites Coldplay and Kings of Leon as being among his musical interests and influences.
Harry is fast becoming a major heart throb among fans and celebrities alike, with several high profile women named in the media as being romantically linked with Harry.
